NORTH ST. LOUIS (KSDK) -- A two family flat on the 4500 block of Fair Avenue caught fire Saturday morning.
St. Louis Fire Department received the call just after 11:30 a.m. Flames started on the second floor, but the family was not present. The first floor of the home was occupied at the time of the fire, but thankfully both people made it out safely.
The fire was contained to the back of the house, but there is smoke and water damage throughout.
The Red Cross is assisting the two adults who lived on the first floor of the building. At this time there is no known cause for the fire which left the structure and contents inside heavily damaged.
Fire officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire and NewsChannel 5 will have more information when it becomes available.
