Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Attorney General Chris Koster has filed a lawsuit against a company for hazardous waste violations.
The suit has been filed against Discount Computers, Inc. (DCI) and Mark Glover for violations against Missouri's Hazardous Waste Management Law.
According to Koster, DCI leased a building in the 2000 block of Westport Drive in St. Louis to collect and strip computers and monitors to sell the parts.
He says when the business finished computer work, it abandoned everything at the warehouse and used it as a hazardous waste disposal site.
Koster says the company accumulated more than 2,000 cathode ray tube computer monitors (CRTs) at the building without registering it as a hazardous waste generator, unlawfully disposed of the CRTs by abandoning them, and operated a hazardous waste facility without a permit.
He is asking the court issue a preliminary injunction and prohibit DCI and Glover from further violations of the law, implement of penalty of up to $10,000 per day for each violation, and require DCI and Glover to pay all costs of the case.
