(KSDK Sports) -- After tonight's game against the Detroit Red Wings, Wade Redden will officially have played .6% of his career games wearing a Blues jersey. Don't bother doing the math, it really means that tonight will be his sixth game as a Blue, but his 1,000th as player in the NHL.
For even more perspective, it's notable that he is just the 11th player Blues player to accomplish the milestone and the 282nd in NHL history.
The fact that Redden gets the chance to reach 1,000 NHL game is amazing in itself, and a testament to a man who refused to give up on the game he loved, even when those who run that game told him it was over.

He was released by the New York Rangers in 2010, and then spent two seasons in the AHL, where he fought his way back into view, just enough to get someone to notice him. That someone happened to be the St. Louis Blues, who were looking for some veteran presence in the backcourt.
The journey for Redden to this day is certainly a good story.
