JENNINGS, Mo. (KSDK) - The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys' Office has charged Calvin Campbell, 32, with one count of murder in the second degree and one count of armed criminal action.
St. Louis County Police responded to a report of a disturbance and cutting at the home in the 9400 block of Dawn Court just before 10:00 p.m Tuesday night.
That's where investigators located 28-year-old Sophia Moore who had multiple injuries suffered in the attack.
Police say the woman's 32-year-old boyfriend, Calvin Campbell, who she kicked out of the home about one week ago, returned to the home Tuesday evening and gained entry into the home and began punching the victim around.
As Moore was trying to escape from the attack, the unidentified boyfriend got possession of a butcher knife and began stabbing the woman.
Two youngsters, ages 8 and 9, the children of the woman stabbed were inside the home at the time of the attack, but fled to a neighbors home to seek help.
Police say Campbell turned himself into police around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday where he confessed to the crime.
Campbell has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is held without bond.
