(CNN) - Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta will be well protected after he leaves office.
An administration official tells CNN a full detail of security agents are assigned to him for the foreseeable future.
There are concerns about potential threats against him both as a result of being a Defense Secretary and CIA director.
The source tells CNN, "This is the guy that killed Osama Bin Laden. He'll have guys with him for some time to come."
Panetta's last day in office is Thursday. He is expected to return to his California home this week.
A security detail also will be assigned to Chuck Hagel upon being confirmed as Defense Secretary.
