ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A south St. Louis shooting victim has been identified.
Police say 15-year-old Demetrius Murphy and 17-year-old Michael Bryant were attempting to burglarize a home in Gravois Park just before 1:30 a.m. when one of them was shot by a resident of the home.
When officers arrived at the home in the 3700 block of Tennessee Avenue, they found Murphy dead of a gunshot wound.
Police say a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were in the home during the attempted burglary.
The man told police he heard a noise outside the rear of the home and went to investigate. He said he confronted Murphy and then shot him.
Bryant was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree attempted burglary.
Bond information has not been released.
