ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KSDK) - A 49-year-old man has been charged after witnesses say an explosion shook buildings and shattered glass.

Joseph Wambach has been charged with one count of knowingly burning or exploding.

Randy Vaughn, Media Relations Officer for the St. Louis County Police Department, says officers responded to the 11800 block of Tesson Ferry Drive Wednesday night after damage was reported from an explosion.

Vaughn says an investigation led officers to Wambach, who allegedly placed an unknown explosive device on the ground outside of the Avon store, and then walked inside of a neighboring bar.

Wambach resisted arrest, but was taken into custody around 8 p.m.

A motive for the crime has not been determined.

He is held on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
