St. Peters, MO (KSDK)- A 17-year-old male was attacked at Mid Rivers Mall in St. Peters, according to police.
Police say a man in his 30's punched the teen in the face, and it all happened in front of dozens of shoppers.
The victim's parents said their 17-year-old son had to get ten stitches in his face and now has memory loss.
Police say a 34-year-old man was arguing with the 17-year-old man around 4:30 PM Friday near the mall's movie theatre.
Police say the man was upset because he thought the victim and his friends made racial slurs.
Police say surveillance video shows the man following the teens, they start to argue and then the teen being punched in the face.
"He wasn't letting it go. The kid was putting up his hands, trying to walk away and he just kept pushing it and then he just hit him," said Melissa Dieter, who witnessed the whole incident.
The victim is back home from the hospital.
Police sent a warrant application off to the St Charles County Prosecuting Attorney for review.
