FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - The St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged a 25-year-old Fairview Heights man for allegedly attacking his cousin with a golf club early Sunday morning.
According to Lt. Steve Evans, a spokesman for the Fairview Heights Police Department, the incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. in the 100 block of North Ruby Lane. Police were called to the scene and found the 33-year-old victim standing in the street. He suffered multiple lacerations and contusions.
Evans said the victim told police he'd gotten into an altercation with his cousin, identified as Darren Moore, prior to the attack. The victim said Moore became too aggressive, forcing the victim to leave the residence.
The victim said Moore chased after him and struck him in the head with a golf club, and struck him several more times after he fell to the pavement.
Evans said the victim was treated at Memorial Hospital in Belleville and later released.
Darren Moore was arrested as his home a short time later. He was charged Monday with aggravated battery and remains jailed on $15,000 bond.
