ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - A young boy was hit and killed by a vehicle in St. Francois County late Tuesday afternoon.

Randy Davis with the St. Francois County Ambulance District says shortly before 5 p.m. a young boy ran onto Highway 8 near Highway P, west of Park Hills.

The driver of a 1997 Ford 350 pickup truck served to avoid the boy, but could not. The back of the driver's side of the vehicle hit 6-year-old Evan Ketto.

Ketto was severely injured and airlifted to Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington where he was pronounced dead.

Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Wheetley says the driver of the truck will not be charged.
