PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/CNN) - A relic believed to be the shin of Bible legend Mary Magdalene is on tour, stopping at Catholic churches across the country.
Some Catholics in Peoria, Illinois recently got a chance to see it. Believers say it's been under the protection of Dominican priests ever since.
The church does not require Catholics to believe in relics like this but suggests it doesn't hurt.
"We have a piece of bone from Mary Magdalene and that's amazing because it's a part of her earthly body. Because she's in heaven and that she's here in my church," said Catholic Deb Shanahan.
The relic is on tour across the Midwest until March 20.
