ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Charges have been filed against a man accused of a home invasion.
Jamond Carter, 18, has been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, six counts of kidnapping, seven counts of armed criminal action, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Leah K. Freeman, Public Information Specialist for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, says Carter and an unknown accomplice entered an apartment in the 1100 block of St. Louis Avenue just after midnight March 11.
A 20-year-old woman; her four children ages 4, 6, 3, and 1; and the woman's 41-year-old woman were inside the apartment on the second floor.
Freeman says Carter and his friend were armed with handguns and robbed the victims of a cell phone and credit card.
Carter allegedly left the apartment to withdraw cash with the card while the unknown suspect stayed in the home and attempted unsuccessfully to rape the 20-year-old.
When Carter returned, police say he returned the card to the woman and fled.
Nobody was injured.
