ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Just to the south of St. Louis 1-2" of rain fell on Sunday but when we needed it most in the metro, most of us had quiet weather through much of St. Patrick's Day.  Well...not anymore.

The well advertised storm system to our south will send rain mixed with sleet and snow this way for the rest of the evening.  After midnight that precipitation will become lighter, liquid and more sparse as temperatures hold steady or rise a few degrees into the mid 30s by sunrise.

At dawn on Monday count on clouds, a few showers and a number near 35 on your local thermometer.  By late afternoon skies should begin to clear and highs will sneak to near 50.

On the last full day of winter and the first day of spring we'll be cooler than normal with Tuesday sending us a fair amount of clouds and highs in the mid 40s followed by partly sunny skies Wednesday and highs nearer to 40.

If it's any help...spring begins, officially, at 6:02am Wednesday.
