Bingo hall prank leads to unusual punishment

PARK HILLS, Ky. (WLWT) - An unusual crime resulted in an unusual sentence in northern Kentucky this month.
On February 9, Park Hills Police Sgt. Richard Webster said he was working an off-duty security detail at a Covington bingo hall when Austin Whaley, 18, entered the hall with several other youths and yelled "Bingo!"
"This caused the hall to quit operating since they thought someone had won," Webster wrote on his citation. "This delayed the game by several minutes and caused alarm to patrons."
Webster cited Whaley for disorderly conduct.
Last week, Kenton District Judge Douglas Grothaus sentenced Whaley by banning him from using one word.
