ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A five-year-old died Wednesday afternoon from injuries he suffered in a house fire in north St. Louis.
The fire broke out around 10:40 a.m. in a house in the 4500 block of Emerson Avenue.
A 24-year-old woman, 26-year-old man, 5-year-old boy, 4-year-old girl, 2-year-old boy, and 7-month-old boy were also in the home.
Everyone got out of the home safely except 5-year-old Amaiziah Gully. He was pulled from a first floor bedroom unconscious and taken to Children's Hospital. He died later in the afternoon.
A St. Louis Fire Department spokesman says firefighters were not able to find a working smoke detector inside the house.
The cause is under investigation. We're told investigators are looking at a space heater as the possible cause.
