(CNN) - Researchers have confirmed a Florida man's fears after he caught a two-headed creature in the Gulf of Mexico.

A two-headed baby bull shark was found inside an adult bull shark in April of 2011.

Michigan State University led a study of the shark. They confirmed it's a single shark with two heads, not conjoined twins.

There have been other species of two-headed sharks discovered before, but never a bull shark.

Scientists say the finding these kinds of oddities and abnormalities in marine life is difficult because they often die quickly after birth with little chance of surviving in the wild.
