RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) - Police are investigating a fatal accident in Illinois.

Illinois State Police say a blue 2007 freightliner pulling a propane tanker trailer and a red 2007 freightliner pulling a dump trailer collided in Randolph County near Percy on County Line Road around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The driver of the propane tanker, 55-year-old Mickey E. Clayton of Franklin, Ill. died in the accident.

The 48-year-old driver of the dump trailer was not injured.

Illinois State Police say the dump trailer was traveling north on County Line Road and was stopped to make a left turn when the dump trailer ran into the back of the truck, causing the propane tank to catch fire.

Percy is about 63 miles southeast of St. Louis.

The Sparta Fire Department and Illinois State Police responded to the scene, as well as two other fire departments. No firefighters were injured.

County Line Road is closed between Percy and Willisville.
