LEBANON COUNTY, Penn. (WHP/CNN) - A fire in Pennsylvania destroyed a barn and killed the 40,000 chickens inside it.
Firefighters say they were called out to the Lebanon County property Wednesday afternoon on reports of heavy smoke coming from the chicken house.
"We encountered a little more than half the building involved, until we got the tanker shuttles set up, manpower situated, it took a little while but there was no saving the building," said Chief Mike Nelson with the Neversink Fire Company.
Investigators are looking into what caused the fire.
