St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Two people are in police custody this morning after a carjacking that occurred in south St. Louis ended with a police pursuit and a crash involving the stolen car on the city's north side.

Investigators say around 10:30 p.m. Monday a man sitting in his car outside the north entrance of St. Louis University Hospital encountered a teenager armed with a gun who ordered the 42 year old victim out of the vehicle.

A second suspect then approaches and gets into the car and the pair flee in the vehicle.  The victim of the carjacking was not injured in the incident.

About ninety minutes later, patrol officers see the stolen car at Academy and Wells in north St. Louis.  The officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver flees and a short pursuit ensued.

The driver of the vehicle lost control a little more than a mile away, crashing into a street sign at Goodfellow and Bartmer, with the car ending up against a vacant church.

The two teens then began running from the stolen car, and were caught by police in an alley behind the 5700 block of Chamberlin  in north St. Louis. Police said the suspects are 16 and 17-years-old.
