Ballwin Police nab thief who stole phone from McDonalds employee

BALLWIN, Mo. (KSDK) - Ballwin Police say two people, a suspect and a victim, are hospitalized after they were struck by a car on Manchester Road after the suspect stole a cell phone.

Investigators say around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, the man walked into the McDonalds in the 15200 block of Manchester Road and took the employees cell phone.  The man then ran from the store.

The worker took off after the thief and while the pair were crossing Manchester, a vehicle struck both of them.

The man got up and began running again, eventually hiding behind a home on Coral Terrace where he was apprehended by police.

Both the victim of the crime and the alleged thief were transported to the hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

No names have been released and the investigation is continuing.
