ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Charges have been filed against two men for crimes police say they committed against people they lured to north St. Louis on Craigslist.

Christopher W. Duffy, 22, and Devion Russell, 20, have each been charged with five counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree assault, and eight counts of armed criminal action.

The first incident happened Monday when authorities say three people responded to an ad they saw on Craigslist about an SUV for sale.

The victims arranged to meet the people who placed the ad in the 4600 block of Bessie to view and possibly purchase the vehicle.

Documents state Duffy approached the victims and asked them to come to the alley to purchase the vehicle.

The victims refused, and asked Duffy to bring the vehicle to the street.

They said Duffy disappeared behind the home, and then two people approached them.

One of the suspects pointed a gun at one of the victims and ordered him to get out of the vehicle. He then ordered the victim to give him money and his cell phone.

The other two victims were ordered out of the vehicle by the second suspect, and $2,500 was taken from them.

The suspects then fled the scene in a truck.

Documents state Duffy admitted to participating in the robbery by looking out for police.

On Wednesday night a man and two of his relatives drove to the 4400 block of Elmbank Avenue to view and possibly purchase a vehicle they found on Craigslist.

When the victims drove up to the address, authorities say Duffy and Russell approached the vehicle.

The probable cause statement says Russell walked up to the driver's side and pointed a gun inside the vehicle.

The victim put the car in drive as authorities say Russell fired multiple shots into the vehicle, hitting the victim in the face and back.

The probable cause statement says Russell admitted he planned to rob the people who responded to the Craigslist ad and that he fired a gun at three people inside the car.

Duffy is said to have admitted to facilitating and orchestrating this robbery.

The victim of the shooting was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
