Union, MO (KSDK) - A September trial date is scheduled for a man accused in a brutal attack against another man at a popular camping area along the Meramec River last spring.
33 year old Joshua Luken of Sullivan is charged with assault, armed criminal action and evidence tampering in an attack on 32 year old Jeffrey Pemberton of Cuba.
Deputies responded to a Sullivan hospital last May 27, after the victim arrived with significant head and facial injuries.
Pemberton explained to investigators he had gotten into an argument with several people over a teenage girl at the Arapaho Campground area when one of the men in the group punched Pemberton in the face, then struck him in the head with a pipe.
After falling to the ground, Pemberton reported being kicked repeatedly in the ribs, and later tied to a chair until he passed out.
Police reports show the victim was later taken to the hospital by his attackers, who dropped Pemberton off at the emergency room door before fleeing.
A surveillance video at the hospital led authorities back to the camping area where Lueken was questioned and arrested.
