CLAYTON, Mo. (KSDK) - NewsChannel 5 has confirmed a man accused of tampering with soup at a Manchester, Mo. Dierbergs will not be prosecuted.

The incident happened March 28 at the store at 421 Lafayette Center.

Witnesses told salad/soup bar employees a man dropped something into a soup container.

Employees took the soup so that it could not be purchased, and it was thrown away before police arrived.

Manchester police and the FBI launched an investigation and released surveillance footage of a man pouring something into a soup container.

On April 2 a man came forward to say that he was the man on the surveillance video but that he did not place anything in the container.

The man was arrested, booked, and released, but prosecutors say charges will not be filed because there is not any evidence.

It is unknown what is believed to have been placed in the soup.
