PIKE COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - Officials in Clarksville, Mo. are asking for volunteers to help them battle the Mississippi River this weekend.

AmeriCorps volunteers are coordinating the volunteer effort.

Clarksville is over an hour from downtown St. Louis. From Interstate 70, take Highway 79, north.

Gov. Jay Nixon has declared an emergency and is dispatching citizen-soldiers from the Missouri National Guard.
