FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - Schnucks issued a voluntary recall of ground beef sold over the weekend at one of its grocery stores over the possibility of paper contamination.
The recall includes all pre-packaged ground sirloin, ground round and ground chuck purchased between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 from the Fairview Heights Schnucks at 625 Lincoln Highway.
On Sunday evening, a customer returned a package of ground beef containing pieces of black display paper. All ground beef was immediately pulled from the meat cases, the grinder was cleaned and newly ground beef was put out for sale.
Any Fairview Heights Schnucks customer who purchased ground beef between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 can return the product for a full refund or exchange.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported and Schnucks is treating the matter as an isolated incident.
