KIRKWOOD, Mo. (KSDK) - Kirkwood police took a Nipher Middle School student into custody Wednesday for making two verbal threats of gun violence against two fellow students and the school in general.

Det. Dave Smith, public information officer for the Kirkwood Police Department, says the threats were made to two different acquaintances of the student. Those people then told school officials.

A school resource officer found no indication the student had acted on the threats made.

The student's family was contacted, and they said the student did not have access to any guns.

The school resource officer removed the student from school property and took him/her to the St. Louis Family Courts juvenile detention facility.

The name and gender of the student has not been released.
