HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KSDK) - The St. Louis County Assessor's Office has estimated damage from the Hazelwood tornado to be $3.5 million.
An EF2 tornado touched down April 10. Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency and toured storm damage in Hazelwood and other areas affected by severe weather.
A spokesperson for the Assessor's Office says the damage estimate is not all-inclusive and will be less than total damage determined by insurance companies because they determine property value based on the land and value for the improvement of house or other structures on the land.
They also do not include loss of personal items on the property.
The same night the tornado touched down in Hazelwood, an EF1 tornado touched down in Franklin County, an EF0 tornado touched down in The Hill neighborhood in the City of St. Louis, and straight-line winds and three microbursts caused damage along a 30 mile path between Union and Chesterfield.
