GRAFTON, Ill. (KSDK) - The Mississippi River is cresting in Grafton, Ill. right now. It's reached more than 11 feet above flood stage.

The water has swallowed a number of shops along the Great River Road.

But those that aren't flooded want you to know the town is still open for business.

The historic Ruebel Hotel's basement is flooded but the bar and grill are ready for visitors. And the owner of an ice cream shop is even having a little fun, offering flood specials.

"I think you've got to make light of difficult situations any way you can and my specials are cheaper deals on great ice cream. So it's benefiting everyone and ice cream makes everyone happy," said Kim Ballman-Eberlin, owner of The Full Scoop Ice Cream & Yogurt.

"For fun you can stand on our deck and fish. The river came to us instead of us going to the river," said Mo Khamee, owner of the Ruebel Hotel.

There are intermittent lane closures along the Great River Road between Grafton and Alton, but all lanes should re-open soon as the water recedes.
