WINFIELD, Mo. (KSDK) - Flood waters continue to rise in Winfield and Foley, east of Highway 79, according to the Lincoln County Fire Protection District spokesperson Barry Nuss.
Ten to 15 homes in Winfield, off Highway N, have water in their yards. Six homes in Foley are impacted.
The Mississippi River water level is falling, but flood water is flowing south and outside the river system, flooding low lying areas.
The levee district in Winfield is pumping water out, but cannot open the flood gates to drain the water until the river falls below flood stage. That is predicted to happen in one week.
The Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency has contacted FEMA and will be conducting damage assessment.
Sand and sandbags are available to Winfield and Foley residents. No sandbagging volunteers are needed.
