O'Fallon, Ill. (KSDK) - The Major Case Squad has been activated to investigate the death of a 40-year-old woman in the Metro East.
It all started Saturday morning when O'Fallon, Illinois police were called to the 1300 block of Engle Court to investigate a death. Police questioned several neighbors asking if they had heard anything around midnight Friday.
Neighbors said a man, his wife and her three children were all living inside the home and that it was the wife, identified as Taffy Caradona-Stewart, who has been found dead.
Police said the scene has been chaotic since Saturday with police showing up and now the Major Case Squad showing up and going in and out of the house.
One neighbor said the family pretty much kept to themselves, but their kids would often play together.
"I am nervous," said Laurice Rollins. "Yesterday when all the detectives were out here, and we saw the hearse come and pick up a body we didn't know, I was just afraid the the kids were injured as well, but they never brought but one person out so, and put them in the hearse and that was it."
Neighbors said the three children are okay and are with their father.
Police have said there is no danger to the public.
