FAIRMONT CITY, Ill. (KSDK) - Police officers from Fairmont City and accident reconstruction experts with the Illinois State Police are working together to determine the cause of a fatal two-vehicle crash on Collinsville Road early Monday.
Just before 4 a.m., police say there was a disturbance in the 8500 block of Collinsville Road.
After the disturbance, three vehicles started to pursue each other on Collinsville Road to the parking lot of the Rural King.
Authorities say there was a scuffle, and a Buick sedan was pursued westbound by a black Denali SUV.
Witnesses told police the vehicles were exceeding 100 miles per hour while they chased each other.
One of the vehicles went out of control in the 4700 block of Collinsville Road, and both the Buick and the Denali rolled over.
Mercedes Ferrarie-Troisl, 18, of Caseyville, was ejected from the Buick and pinned underneath the car. She died from her injuries.
The driver of the Denali, identified by police as 28-year-old Donald Joseph Friese, left the scene of the accident and is wanted by police.
