ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity for your teenager this summer? Check out the St. Louis Crisis Nursery.
"We are a temporary shelter for children from birth to 12 whose families are going through a difficult time," says Sara Nelson. "That's why we're here, 24-7. People come in all hours of the day and night, and we're here to help. Give referrals, for whatever the crisis is, to help them resolve while we keep the children safe."
Kaitlin Holmes has been volunteering at the Crisis Nursery for a few years. Kaitlin got involved for a service project, and stayed.
"I'm on the Junior Board, so we plan parties for the children, so I usually come when we have parties, usually on Sundays, and when we're on break from school." Kaitlin plans to attend the University of Arkansas next year. She will study to become a pediatric speech pathologist. Kaitlin will continue her volunteer work at the Crisis Nursery when she is home on breaks.
