LAKE SAINT LOUIS, Mo. (KSDK) - An elementary school teacher has been charged with first-degree statutory sodomy for allegedly putting his hand down a 10-year-old student's pants.

Joseph Thomas Maddock met the fifth grade student last spring while teaching third grade at Andrews Academy in Lake Saint Louis.

Court documents state Maddock and the victim convinced the victim's parents to let him home school the victim for the 2012-2013 school year.

Maddock taught the victim at his home five days a week in the finished basement living room area between Sept. 2012 until Feb. 2013.

According to court documents, Maddock put his arm around the victim during several reading sessions, and would rub the victim's back and stomach underneath his shirt, while laying on the couch.

Maddock allegedly admitted to putting his hand down the front of the boy's pants and touching his penis during a Jan. 2013 reading session.

Maddock does not have a criminal background.
