ELLISVILLE, Mo. (KSDK) - The Ellisville City Council held a vote Wednesday night to decide if Mayor Adam Paul should be reinstated, however the vote ended in a tie and that means Paul is still impeached pending his appeal in county court.
Three council members voted in favor of reinstating Paul, while three voted to uphold his impeachment.
The city council voted last month 5-1 to impeach Paul after allegations of wrongfully giving orders to city employees, doing city business outside of public meetings, and lacking an ability to competently run city meetings.
Right after that, three new council members were elected largely by Adam Paul supporters.
Wednesday night the new council took a vote to reverse the previous council's decision to impeach Paul, but fell short in a three-three tie. One of those new council members, Cindy Pool, actually did not vote to reinstate the former Mayor.
Council agreed to hold a special election for Mayor in November.
Paul's attorney says next week he plans to ask a judge to reinstate Paul while he awaits a ruling on his appeal.
