JOPLIN, Mo. (KSDK) - Joplin residents marked two years of recovery Wednesday, as Oklahoma tornado victims begin clearing the rubble from their own disaster.

An EF-5 tornado touched down in Joplin at 5:41 p.m. on May 22, 2011 killing 161 people. Hundreds of other people were injured.
Thousands of homes and businesses destroyed, including a large hospital.
To mark the anniversary, the city is hosting a program highlighting the announcements of Resilience, Resolve, and Realization, and plans a moment of silence at 5:41 p.m.
