ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis police are asking for help identifying a man accused of stealing a diamond and platinum ring from a jewelry store.
The theft happened at the business, located in the 4100 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, on Monday. The suspect sole a one-carat diamond and platinum ring priced at $2,000.
The suspect is described as a black male standing between 5'9" and 5'10" tall and weighing between 185 and 200 pounds with a short afro. He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt over a white t-shirt and black shorts over grey sweatpants. He was also wearing black framed glasses with no lenses. He has two tear drop tattoos under his right eye and tattoos on the left and right sides of his neck.
Police say the suspect told a store clerk he was going to retrieve his credit card from his car. He came back a few minutes later and asked to try the ring on.
After the employee handed him the ring, he took a few steps back, and then ran from the store.
The suspect was seen running to a green early-model 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. It is believed to have Missouri license plates.
