CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- Cape Girardeau police say a man was injured after driving to a woman's home with an explosive device in his car.
Sgt. J.T. Selzer told The Southeast Missourian the man had recently been served with an order of protection by his estranged wife and drove to her house early Sunday with the intent of committing suicide.
Selzer says when police arrived, the man tried to commit suicide with "some type of an explosive device." Selzer says the man sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Charges are pending against the man, who was taken to a hospital and is expected to be treated and released. His identity was not released.
No one else was injured.
Officers evacuated the nearby block while they searched for other explosives, but did not find any.
