ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A man injured after a collision with a police vehicle Tuesday night, escaped from the hospital where he was being treated early Wednesday.

The unidentified 27-year-old man was driving a stolen car around 9:25 p.m. last night when he crashed into a marked police car that was responding with lights & sirens to assist another officer in need of help after being shot at.

Around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday, the man who was wearing a hospital gown, was seen using a drinking fountain inside the hospital while a nurser went to get medication.

Minutes later, the man dressed in dark clothing, took off from St. Louis University Hospital with a woman described as wearing a blue dress.

The couple were seen getting into a light-colored car at the corner of Grand and Vista, just outside the hospital emergency room.

Authorities say they know who they're looking for and are hoping anyone who has any information on his whereabouts, will contact police.
