Paige Johnson, two children killed in crash near Ste. Genevieve

Ste. Genevieve, MO (KSDK) - A two vehicle collision along Highway 61 in Ste. Genevieve County Thursday afternoon has left three people dead.

Missouri Highway Patrol troopers report the crash occurred just after noon yesterday on Hwy-61 north of Buehler Road.

Paige Johnson, 19 of Ste. Genevieve was northbound when she tried to pass another northbound vehicle and lost control of her car.

Johnson over-corrected and drove into the southbound lanes where her car was struck by an oncoming pick-up truck.  Two children riding in the Johnson car were pronounced dead at the crash scene.

The children were identified as 10 year old Clayton Grass and 12 year old Lucas Welton, both of Ste. Genevieve.

Johnson was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis by helicopter.  She died at the hospital late Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the pick-up truck, 52 year old Dennis Klump of Ste. Genevieve was also injured and taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital Jefferson.
