LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - His wife was in labor, and they were rushing to the hospital when their car collided with a semi. That's what witnesses are telling NewsChannel 5.
The accident happened around 7 p.m. Friday just south of Highway 47 along Highway 79.
There's a business, Auto Solutions, just beside the crash site. Employee Ron Thurber was inside when he said he heard the impact, called 911, and ran out. Immediately he began speaking with the husband, who he said shaken up.
He explained to witnesses that he was coming south on 79 when another vehicle was pulling out of a gas station. It scared him, he swerved, and the car hit the semi.
Both the husband and his expectant wife were rushed by ambulance to the hospital.
"I'm nervous for the baby," Thurber went on to say. "You know, that was a big impact. The airbags deployed. It was hit, hit hard, and knocked it all the way back on this side of the street. This is a bad highway. We get crashes on it all the time."
He added that the semi driver was unharmed, but that was not confirmed with Missouri State Highway Patrol.
There's no word yet on the conditions of mom, dad and baby.
