ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A 14-year-old girl got to mix, measure, and live out her dream of being a pastry chef Sunday.
Make-A-Wish Missouri set up the afternoon for Alexis Bailey, who was diagnosed last year with an autoimmune, inflammatory disorder that left her unable to speak, swallow, or walk.
A limo drove Bailey to Butler's Pantry, where chefs treated her to a cooking lesson.
"This is something she's going to battle for a long time," said Tina Bailey, Alexis's mother. "This is with her. This is something she's going to fight with. But knowing her, she's going to win all the time."
Today was an especially sweet win for Bailey. The day of baking left her with dozens of home-baked cookies.
