ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Saint Louis Science Center let the air out of the Exploradome Monday morning.
The Exploradome was inflated in December 1996 and opened in February 1997. It was only supposed to stay up for seven years, but has been visible to drivers along Interstate 64 for 16 years.
Employees say it is showing its age.
The deflation began at 9:30 a.m. and took just a few minutes.
A new exhibit will go in its place, but the Science Center is not ready to make an announcement about its replacement.
