St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Police in St. Louis are investigating the stabbing of a 40 year old man who was trying to assist the driver of a car that collided with a Metro bus in north city late Thursday.
Around 11:30 p.m. last night, police were responding the Newstead and St. Louis Avenue for a crash involving a car and the bus.
The victim of the stabbing witnessed the crash and went to lend help to the driver of the car when a group of approximately ten people confronted the man and began to attack him.
During the course of the assault, the victim was beaten, then stabbed in the chest and arm.
A second bystander then went to the aid of the first Good Samaritan and the attackers dispersed and fled the scene as police arrived.
The victim of the attack was taken to the hospital with serious injuries according to police. The investigation continues.
No one on the Metro bus was injured in the collision.
