ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KSDK) - Police say an 83-year-old woman had her wallet, driver's license, and several personal papers stolen from her purse recently by a woman who approached her and offered to help her shop at Walmart.

The victim was approached by a man and woman around 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 28 at the Walmart in the 2800 block of Veteran's Memorial Parkway. The woman told the victim she helps people locate items within the store they need to purchase.

The female suspect told the male to wait in the car and listen to music while she helped the victim shop. The female suspect and the victim shopped for a short period of time.

After the victim paid for her items, the female suspect walked her outside to help put her items into her car.

The victim told police she leaned into her backseat to get a can of beans to give to the woman as a thank you.

When the suspect left, the victim noticed her wallet containing several hundred dollars, her ID, and personal papers had been stolen from her purse.

"She was heartbroken, she felt very violated," said Officer Erik Lawrenz with the St. Charles Police Department."She had put her trust into this person."

A security camera caught the woman taking the victim's wallet from her purse as she retrieved the beans.
