ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KSDK) - It's one day down, 10 to go for thousands of Scott Air Force Base workers facing furloughs.
Over the next few months, 4,500 civilian employees will be forced to take 11 days off without pay. Monday marked the first day of those furloughs.
The cuts are to make up for that massive federal sequester that took effect earlier this year.
Originally, the employees were set to take 22 unpaid days, but the base was able to cut that in half.
