AFFTON, Mo. (KSDK) -- A St. Louis County Police officer was forced to shoot a male suspect Saturday night after they received a disturbance call about an intoxicated man.
Police received a call from the 9800 block of Arv-Ellen around 7:30 p.m. Satuday for a male neighbor who had been in a neighbor's front yard waving a gun.
When the two officers arrived on the scene, they tried to calm the man down, but he produced a firearm from his waistband. The suspect raised it towards the officers and then to his own head.
Shots were exchanged and police say it's unclear if the man died from a self-inflicted wound or from a shot fired by police.
The male has been identified as 36-year-old Shawn Spiros.
