ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - Few people start a run hoping that their brains are not eaten during the course of their workout, but that was the case in Queeny Park Sunday afternoon.
Participants in "The Zombie Run" ran a five kilometer obstacle course complete with smoke, sirens, helicopters and the motivation of being chased by zombies.
One of the newest adventure races making stops across the country pits a portion of the runners against the rest of the field.
Several hundred runners took to the course as zombies with the help of three dozen Hollywood makeup artists that were on hand for the event.
Nearly 3,000 people turned out to take their chance running through the post-apocalyptic course.
A portion of the proceeds from the race benefit both the Active Heroes organization and the National Children's Cancer Society.
