St. Louis County (KSDK) - They have plenty of questions and very little time to get answers. That is what many parents in the Riverview Gardens school district are saying about their chance to transfer their kids to better performing schools -- before school starts in just a few weeks.
Dozens of parents showed up Monday night to a meeting hosted by the Children's Education Alliance of Missouri. The group took questions from parents who are trying to navigate their recently upheld right to transfer their kids out of the unaccredited Riverview Gardens school district.
Riverview Gardens announced it will bus students about 30 minutes away to the Mehlville district, but many parents say that is not good enough.
"We really need to know what's going on," said Melissa Seymore a parent of an 8th grader and 9th grader in the Riverview Gardens district. "But not even just knowing what's going on we need to have the choice to be able to send our children to wherever we want to with the help of the school district," said Seymore.
Parents do not have a lot of time to figure all of this out with some districts they may want to transfer to starting school in less than a month.
