ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Like toasted ravioli and provel cheese, it's a St. Louis thing.

"It's KSHE 95 real rock radio and there you have The Cars," Favazz, host of KSHE's PM drive tells listeners.

It's a station that went on the air in 1967 and well unlike other stops along the dial, hasn't changed all that much.

"It's always been a rock station," Favazz says.

A station this born and bred St. Louisan grew up listening to only then he had an extra A on the end of his name.

"Smash started calling me Favazz the day after the Guns N' Roses riot in 1991 and it has stuck," Favazz explains.

He's been at the mic at KSHE for 22 years and interviewed practically everyone KSHE plays.

"Sammy Hagar, Kiss, Alice Cooper. Paul McCartney was the biggest one, I sat on a couch with Paul McCartney at Scottrade in 2002," Favazz says.

It's obviously been a pretty memorable career as is his signature out.

"KSHE 95 real rock radio it's Favazz and I'm out of here. I'll see you guys tomorrow Favazz saying so long, farewell, AMF," the radio personality says leaning into the mic.

Three letters he's often asked about.

"My first question is 'Well, what do you think it is?" he says with a smirk.

Adios music fans?

"Guess again," Favazz tells me.

Metal freaks?

"Nope," he says shaking his head.

Macho fellas?

"Nah," Fazazz says with a grin.

You can fill in the blank.

"For my son the G-rated version is adios my friends," Favazz points out.

The good news is although he says farewell nightly he has no plans of ever leaving KSHE.

"Once you get here you don't want to leave. KSHE is KSHE," he adds.

You can hear Favazz weekdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
