ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KSDK) - A 37-year-old Chesterfield man was convicted Wednesday for breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and attacking her dog, the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said.
According to prosecutors, Charles Zidek was convicted of second-degree burglary and animal abuse.
Prosecutors said on the early morning hours of October 9, 2011, Zidek gained access to his ex's residence on Kettering Drive by breaking a basement window. Once inside, Zidek tortured his ex's dog, an Italian greyhound named "Vinny."
Vinny was injured so badly that he later had to be put down.
